Free Subscription to Bookshare

If you are a Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh or Free Library of Philadelphia patron with a print disability, you may be eligible to receive a free subscription to Bookshare, an on-line library of over 500,000 electronic books, magazines, and newspapers. Through a partnership between Bookshare and the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia libraries serving the blind and print handicapped, all patrons already registered with the National Library Service pre-qualify for the free subscription to Bookshare. Offerings are available in digital audio, braille or text formats. Patrons can read Bookshare’s accessible eBooks on Apple and Android devices, computers, tablets, assistive technology devices and MP3 players using either free or inexpensive apps. Patrons can access the Bookshare application by visiting https://www.bookshare.org/cms/bookshare-and-Pennsylvania-libraries. You will need to include promo code PALBPH for the free subscription. Current Bookshare subscribers should email the code with a request for a free membership to promo@bookshare.org. Should you have questions or concerns, contact your regional NLS library.
