By Al Pietrolungo, GTCB president
Once again, the Golden Triangle Council of the Blind, (GTCB), is pleased to be hosting the 2016 Southwest Regional meeting of the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind. The meeting will take place on May 21, 2016 from 9 am to about 3 pm at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children at 201 N. Bellefield Avenue in Pittsburgh. At this time, about 90% of our arrangements are complete, so please read on so you can review our plans for this interesting gathering.
Registration will take place from 9 to 9:30 am. After some welcoming remarks and introduction of attendees, our first speaker will be Matt Pavlovsky of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission who will talk to us about regional transportation issues and plans. We look forward to remarks from our new state president, Sue Lichtenfels who will share her thoughts and plans for the future of our state affiliate. We will receive a report from our colleague, Karen Rockey, president of the Washington County chapter, and we will offer information regarding developments within GTCB.
Lunch will be provided at a cost of about $15. The menu includes sliced beef with sauce, baked chicken, baked ziti, parsley red potatoes, glazed carrots, tossed salad, rolls and butter.
After lunch, we have asked the Reverend Sally Jo Snyder of the Consumer Health Coalition to speak to us on the topic of advocacy. If you heard Sally Jo speak at our 2014 regional, you know she will grab our attention after a great lunch. To end the day, we have invited State Representative Dan D. Frankel to speak to us about issues in the state legislature including the paralysis in state government.
We invite any PCB members and friends to attend this regional gathering. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Al Pietrolungo at (412) 605-0571 or via email at email@example.com. Please join us.
