From the Nominating Team
In the summer edition of The PCB Advocate, the Nominating Team requested that members interested in declaring themselves as candidates for election to the PCB Board of Directors submit a statement of intent and a biographical note. The Team received four statements of declaration for the four board positions up for election this year. Late in August, current board member, Tony Evancic indicated to the Team that he would unfortunately be unable to complete his term due to health-related issues. With Tony’s resignation from the board, the Team has sought a fifth candidate from among the membership to serve the second year of Tony’s term. As a result, at our conference this year, five board positions will be up for election, four two-year terms and one single-year term.
It has become our practice to have candidates prepare and record a statement based on questions submitted by the Nominating Team. These questions included one mandatory question for those seeking election to the Board of Directors. In addition, each of the candidates was given the choice of responding to one of two additional questions. The questions posed to the 2018 candidates were:
What do you see as your role and your greatest responsibility as a member of the Board of Directors of PCB?
1. What do you believe is your most important attribute which will assist you as a member of the Board of Directors of PCB and why?
2. As a member of the Board of Directors of PCB, is there a particular initiative of our organization’s mission or administration to which you will dedicate your efforts or expertise?
The declared candidates seeking election to the PCB Board of Directors are:
Mary Ann Grignon, incumbent, seeking a two-year term
Cathy Long, incumbent, seeking a two-year term
Suzanne Erb, seeking a two-year term
Rose Martin, seeking a two-year term
Mary (May) Davis, seeking the one-year term
The recorded statements are posted on the PCB website at pcb1.org/conference/candidate-statements/. In addition, the candidate statements may also be accessed from the PCB Information Line number at: 773-572-6314, select option 2. For those receiving The PCB Advocate on cartridge, candidate statements will be included as content after the conclusion of this issue.
Since the number of candidates who have declared their intent to stand for election equals the number of positions open, by default the Nominating Team declares these candidates as the slate. Of course, as specified in our bylaws, any member may seek nomination from the floor during the elections. Undeclared candidates from the floor will be given up to five minutes to address the same questions posed to the declared candidates.
