Sponsored by the Philadelphia Metro Council of the Blind
Hello dart enthusiasts! Are you ready for some competition and fun at this year’s PCB Conference and Convention?
On Friday, October 19, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., we will hold a clinic where the rules of the event will be discussed, and demonstrations and informal practice will be held.
Teams will also be determined during this time. All dart throwers will be classified as either experienced or novice. One person from each classification will be partnered to form two-person teams. There was plenty of excitement about this format last year. Everyone enjoyed themselves. So, we are not going to change it.
From 10:00 – Noon, we will compete. The event will be 301 Doubles, which has you and your partner working together to get your score down to zero or at least lower than the opposing team’s score. The cost of the event is $5 per person. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams at the following amounts:
First place team $50 per thrower.
Second place team $40 per thrower.
Third place team $30 per thrower.
Of course, some rules will apply. Everyone is required to wear a blindfold or sleep shade. Only nylon tipped darts weighing less than 18 grams can be used. You may bring your own or use the ones we will have available. The dart boards give you audio information when your dart hits the board. So, to hear the board announcements, conversations within the room need to be kept to a whisper or lower.
So, when you receive your conference registration information, be sure to check the box to participate in this event. Let’s get together for some fun and competition. Who will earn bragging rights for the year?
See you at the toeboard. If you have any questions or concerns, contact either Bob Lichtenfels at 412-596-2682 or George Holliday at 215-796-9813.
