8:30 AM Peer Exploration: LowViz Guide (Indoor navigation) Morning Session

Meet at the Convention Registration Table (Mezzanine Level)

Work with fellow PCB members as we explore the future of indoor navigation using LowViz Guide.

Using strategically placed beacons along with an iOS accessible application, users are instructed how to access various landmarks within the hotel. These will include all meeting rooms, restaurant and elevators. Work with other PCB members to determine the best way to use this technology.

LowViz Guide indoor navigation is provided by Macular Degeneration Support (mdsupport.org) under a grant from Macular Degeneration Foundation (eyesight.org).

10:00 AM PCB Audio Darts Tournament, Grand Ballroom D

Join us once again for the PCB Audio Darts Tournament. Teams of two will compete in multiple rounds. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. The minimum prizes are

First Place – $40 per person

Second Place – $30 per person

Third Place – $20 per person

There is a $5 per person registration fee for this event.

Start your day with a tour of the brewing process. This is a lecture on how the beer is made. While waiting for your lunch which is included in the price of the tour, there will be time for a beer and soda tasting. There is a small gift shop to visit as well.

12:00 PM – 2:00 PM Exhibit Hall – Presentation Schedule

The Convention Program & Planning Committee is offering vendors an opportunity to schedule 10 – 15 minute presentations in the exhibit hall. Each vendor will have a chance to present their product or service to an attentive audience.

The Exhibit Hall will consist both of the vendor table section and a separate area with a podium and up to 30 chairs in theater style.

Vendors will sign up prior to the convention for a 10 – 15 minute slot between 12 and 2 PM on Friday afternoon. A presentation schedule will be published prior to the convention allowing attendees to plan ahead.

Our intent is to provide both vendors and members with a formal time to assure they learn about the products and services available.

This is free for both members and vendors.

3:15 PM Empower Yourself to Learn Anything, Lisa Salinger

This presentation will instruct attendees on understanding the importance of taking charge of the way we acquire knowledge. Focusing on the ways to acquire information including: When to use your personal network to learn and when to go solo, how to find information without a computer, where to start when you’re not sure what you need to know, and the one thing you should never do when trying to learn new things.

The Education & Employment Committee will provide the audience a realistic view of how the IU vision services are determined and delivered in order to advocate for education-related efforts more effectively.

10:15 AM Technology Access Committee Presents “Bills, Bills, Bills”. While the committee cannot offer any assistance in paying your bills; we can offer our experiences using the various methods of payment available to simplify this process.

Golden Entertainment Opportunity Who Done It? That is the question we will all be trying to answer on Saturday evening following the banquet meal and awards presentation when the Golden Triangle Council of the Blind presents “Murder at the Tonylou Awards.” This unique production by an all vision-impaired cast is set during the television production of a Hollywood awards program. The show features a murder mystery with lots of laughs, self-absorbed celebrities, and many motives for murder. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind entertainment opportunity.
